Passive Sustainability Symposium
August 2009
A hugely successful Symposium on the important subject of Sustainability was held at The Johns Practice. The day started with a presentation from Keith introducing The Johns Practice. This was followed by a presentation from Vic and Stuart on sustainability and the driving forces behind the need to design and construct in a sustainable method. As part of the presentation a quick questionnaire was filled out by delegates to establish their own Carbon Footprint some found the results en-lighting.
After lunch, Vic and Stuart lead an exciting debate on global warming and sustainability followed by questions. All delegates got involved in the debate which became extremely thought provoking and lively.
It became evident that the subject is both complex and controversial. The discussions indicated that the cost of achieving designated targets is high but solutions can be found through effort and imagination. There was a difference of opinion on the motives for the current legislation and guidance but all agreed that global developments need to be addressed.
We are looking forward to arranging the next one which will hopefully take place in the spring of next year.
